I recently grabbed 2 boxes of the 2014 Topps Turkey Red Online Exclusive, and I don’t expect to hit the Golden Ticket or even walk away with some HUGE auto but I shouldn’t have to open the same pack twice, twice.

000_0004Yep, what is it and why can I buy it at my local retail store? That being said, Panini Retrospection Collection is one of the new blasters that you’ll be seeing on your local retail shelfs, but what makes this box different is the 5 packs that you get are HOBBY packs. Each box contains (2) 2012-13 Past & Present packs, (2) 2012-13 Elite, and (1) 2012-13 contenders all for $21.99.

I didn’t pull much of anything out of this box, I think a better buy, even with these being Hobby packs, would have been Topps Chrome football or even 2013-14 Hoops with autos falling about 1 a blaster. I give this new “Hobby” retail idea a pass.

2013 Topps Allen & Ginter

Topps has released its 2013 Allen & Ginter last week with surprises inside packs and inside the actually box. Which I like the idea, but once again also can give a black eye on the hobby. Make sure when you buy those boxes, that the top doesn’t have creases in it. The box I review here had a crease along the top of the box but was wrapped and couldn’t have been tampered with but might have been felt up like a pack at a retail store. Overall great looking cards with plaenty of inserts. The Strasburg patch card looks awesome even with it being created for 2013 Topps. If you take the time to read the back, I like the Career Chase tidbit on each card, like on Shin-Soo Choo card it reads, “With 265 extra base hits, Choo is 1.212 away from Hank Aaron’s all-time record of 1,477. Or the back of Clayton Kershaw card, we all know now that he’s a big Taylor Swift fan. Like any of the cards listed here check out my Ebay auctions, some will be posted and even more after this weeks Hobby breaks.
